European ImmunoMetabolism Network Conference

This month, members of Bart Everts' Cellular Immunometabolism group spent three days in Luxembourg at the third annual conference of the European ImmunoMetabolism Network (EIMN), of which Dr. Everts is the founder and chair.

In addition to attending inspiring keynote lectures by Luke O'Neill (Trinity College Dublin), Jeffrey Rathmell (University of Chicago), and Carole Linster (University of Luxembourg), as well as presentations from researchers within and beyond the network, members of LUCID Research also showcased their own research findings.

Hanna Hepp and Julian van Duijvenvoorde shared posters on their PhD research, titled: 'Temporal modulation of nutrient sensing primes CD8+ T cell effector function' and 'Role of AMPK in dendritic cell-driven anti-tumor immunity', respectively.

Martina Erbì gave a presentation entitled 'Development of a click-chemistry based glucose probe: single-cell in situ tracking of glucose uptake in the tumor microenvironment', detailing her novel glucose tracker tool, which allows researchers to see exactly which individual cells are consuming sugar, revealing important metabolic differences between immune cells that previously looked identical. For this, she received the award for Best Talk.

Congratulations Martina, and congratulations to Bart & EIMN for a successful conference!
