LUCID Meeting Day

Once a year, we take time out of our day-to-day work to come together, learn from one another, and identify ways to make LUCID even better as a department.

LUCID Meeting Day

For this year's strategy meeting, we discussed LUCIDs research focus areas in the morning session with research team leads and in the afternoon, we engaged with each other's work during an insightful research market - learning about topics such as controlled human infection models (CHIM), lateral flow strippers, schistosome parasite imaging, vaccine response, Biomark multiplex qPCR, and more.

Temporarily stepping into the field of primate biology, Patrick Van Veen invited us to apply the cooperative behaviour of gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans to our work lives, as well as sharing insights from his research at the Jane Goodall Institute Netherlands, in his fabulous guest talk.

Finally, we took part in a fun LUCID quiz, which involved building the highest tower out of newspaper - and the teams certainly delivered.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the day such a success - from engaging discussions to the teamwork, creativity, and enthusiasm throughout. We greatly enjoyed sharing ideas, learning from one another, and strengthening collaborations across LUCID.
