MUSICC Annual Meeting Rotterdam

Together with colleagues from @LUMC Center for Cell and Gene Therapy (CCG), members of LUCID Research travelled to Rotterdam last week for the third Mucosal Immunity in Human Coronavirus Challenge (MUSICC) annual meeting.

MUSICC Annual Meeting Rotterdam

The MUSICC project is a global consortium focused on advancing next-generation COVID-19 vaccines through controlled human infection studies. The goal is to develop vaccines that can prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection entirely, halting transmission.

During the meeting, Dr. Marjolein Kikkert gave a presentation to international partners about recent progress from LUCID's Virus-Host Interactions and Antiviral Strategies research group.

This included: establishing biobanks of virus samples at Erasmus MC and Leiden University Medical Center and creating a GMP-compliant protocol for growing lung-derived organoids, which will be used to support the production of SARS-2 and OC43 viruses.

Alongside the scientific programme, participants took part in an engaging djembe drum workshop and enjoyed the opportunity to socialise and strengthen relationships with MUSICC partners.
