Research - Pediatric respiratory tract infection and host response kinetics

My PhD research focusses on transmission dynamics and infection kinetics in children, focusing on bacterial and viral pathogens. Using high-frequency, child-friendly nasal sampling, we track infection dynamics over time and link these patterns to local immune responses and symptoms. We also investigate transmission pathways and evaluate immune responses to nasal vaccination, providing insights into pediatric respiratory health and prevention strategies.

Curriculum Vitae

In 2021 I completed my medical training at the Amsterdam Medical Centre after which I worked in the pediatric department of the Spaarne Gasthuis in Haarlem. Through a collaboration with pediatrician Marlies van Houten, I came in contact with Simon and was able join his research group as a PhD-student in 2023.
